The SC&T IP09CP is a high-speed PoE over Coax extender that transmits standard TCP/IP signals and up to 90W power over a single coaxial cable up to 1000m. By reusing existing coaxial infrastructure, it allows seamless migration from analog to HD IP surveillance networks, eliminating the prohibitive costs of remote power distribution and re-cabling.
Data & Power Transmission over a single coaxial cable
Complies with the IEEE 802.3bt standard to transmit data and up to 90W power simultaneously over a single coaxial cable, eliminating remote AC power deployment costs.
Within 500m: Delivers full-speed 100Mbps Full-Duplex transmission.
Up to 1000m: Operates at a stable 10Mbps to ensure long-distance connectivity.
3 Flexible Power Modes
Offers high deployment flexibility with 3 localized power options: PoE switch power, Rx external adapter, or Tx external adapter. This solves remote camera power sourcing constraints.
⚠️ CAUTION: DO NOT connect a PoE switch and a DC power adapter simultaneously to avoid equipment damage.
Power & Transmission Performance
The IP09CP supports three powering architectures. When no PoE switch is available at the head-end, the system can be powered independently via external power adapters at either the Tx or Rx side. Please refer to the technical manual for the exact performance detailing cable types, distance, bandwidth, and available wattage:
Configuration-Free Plug and Play
The RJ45 port features Auto MDI/MDI-X crossover detection and is fully compatible with 568-A/B cabling. Whether using straight-through or crossover cables, the device automatically negotiates Full/Half-Duplex modes with zero IP configuration required.
EFT & Surge Protection
Specially engineered for energized lines, providing 40A Electrical Fast Transient (EFT) and 10kA lightning surge protection. This ensures high tolerance against spark noise from industrial machinery and harsh outdoor environments.

Real-World PoE over Coax Applications
Municipal Traffic & Highway Surveillance Upgrade
The IP09CP allowed the engineering team to leverage existing coaxial lines, pushing head-end PoE power and network signals to a kilometer-scale remote site, eliminating re-cabling and power distribution costs.
The IP09CP upgraded analog setups to HD cameras across old campus buildings. By utilizing existing underground coax infrastructure, the school upgraded its security network during minimal downtime without excavation or installing remote outlets.
SC&T’s Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) solutions meet diverse power delivery and long-range integration needs. Select the ideal model based on your wiring layouts, transmission distances, and power budgets:
IP09 Series: Active High-Performance Solutions
Featuring active signal amplification and circuit isolation, this series delivers up to 90W power and 1000m transmission—designed for high-specification, high-stability projects.
IP09CP (IP09CPT + IP09CPR): 90W High-Power PoE up to 1000m. Transmits data and power over a single cable to eliminate remote power issues.
IP09PH: 4-Port Output Hub. Integrates multi-channel signals at the head-end to save rack space.
IP09C: Data-only extension up to 1000m. Cost-effective for projects with local power at the camera end.
IP01 Series: Passive Cost-Effective Solutions
Featuring a fully passive circuit design, this series requires no external power at either end, eliminating extender-side wiring to save budget in short-range applications.
IP01: Data-only extender. Requires no external power; ideal for short-range deployments with existing local power.
IP01P: Passive PoE extender. Transmits data and power simultaneously over coax without power adapters, fulfilling short-range PoE requirements.
Flexible Configurations
Mix and match the active IP09 series to optimize configurations based on your transmission distances and camera counts.
Companion Products
SP009P- Coax Surge Protector
Specialized surge protector for EoC and PoE over Coax transmission. Supports HD-Analog, IP, PoE, and PoC signals to protect head-end and remote PoE devices.
Do I need to manually configure IP addresses or adjust bandwidth?
No. The IP09CP is 100% plug-and-play and automatically negotiates 100Mbps/10Mbps bandwidth and duplex modes based on cable conditions.
Can it connect to devices other than IP cameras?
Yes. It works with any standard TCP/IP device (VoIP phones, access control, network speakers, laptops wifi router), converting legacy coax into a standard Ethernet interface.
Does it have surge protection? Do I need an extra surge protector?
The built-in 40A EFT and 10kA surge protection are sufficient for most industrial environments. For high-risk outdoor deployments (e.g., light poles, intersections), we recommend adding the SC&T SP009P at the cable entry point.
Will drawing power directly from an existing head-end PoE switch damage the equipment?
No. The IP09CP features built-in circuit isolation protection to prevent switch damage. However, cable impedance consumes power over distance; ensure you calculate the total head-end power budget. (Note: Never connect a PoE switch and an external adapter simultaneously.)
Should I choose the IP09CP or the IP01P if both models extend PoE signals over coax?
Both models eliminate the need for re-cabling and local power wiring; selection depends on your transmission distance and power requirements:
IP09CP (Active): Extends signals up to 1,000m while delivering up to 90W PoE power, eliminating the cost for local wiring at the camera end.
IP01P (Passive): Extends signals up to 300m. Requires zero external power, suitable for short-range and lightweight PoE deployments.
Do RG59 and RG6U cables affect the transmission distance of the IP09CP?
Yes. Performance and maximum extension vary by cable type:
RG6U: 100Mbps within 500m; up to 1,000m at 10Mbps.
RG59: 100Mbps within 500m; up to 800m at 10Mbps.
(Note: Available PoE wattage decreases over longer distances due to cable loss.)
What should I check if the Link LED remains off or the video feed is intermittent?
The IP09CP is an active PoE device. Follow these three steps to troubleshoot:
1. Verify Power Status: Check if the PoE switch or PoE injector at the control room (Rx side) is delivering power, and ensure the Power LEDs are illuminated.
2. Test Connections (BNC): Legacy cables are prone to attenuation from oxidized connectors. Please re-terminate the BNC connectors, or perform a 1-meter bench test. If successful, the on-site cable is degraded or severed.
3. Lock Port Speed: If the distance approaches the cable limit, use the onboard DIP switch to force the speed to 10Mbps Full/Half-Duplex to optimize long-distance connection stability.
